Happy Mothers Day weekend everyone! I hope your Mother's Day is a special and loving day for you, whether you are a mother being honored, or a mother's child honoring your mother. Tomorrow we honor my mother who will be eighty-one in a few months. We cherish every moment we have with her.

LET THE VOTING BEGIN!

May Mind Wide Open Challenge Image

In looking for an image to present for the May challenge I found some scans of old cabinet cards I own. As usual I have questions. I could be wrong but I am assuming the children in this picture are brother and sister although to my eye I don't think they look a lot alike. And I find myself  wondering why these two children look so solemn? What can I read in their expressions? Maybe it is nothing more than back in that day and age it took so long for a picture to be taken that it was hard to hold a smile that long. And I also wonder why is the little boy sitting and the gfirl standing? Why not the other way around? And why does it look like he is wearing a collar of the priesthood? Is he really or is it just a fluke of the way the clothing is arranged? I wonder what happened to these two children and why this photo ended up in a flea market. I find this is the way of old photos I come upon. I can sit and stare at them and have questions, but usually no answers. People photos have always intrigued me as I try to divine their story from a short moment stolen in time.

April Challenge

 I could say I didn't post the challenge yesterday as my April Fool's prank on you. :)

 But I have an affinity for the truth and the truth is the day simply slipped away from me. I am in the midst of getting ready to go to Art Is You in Nashville where I get to spend three glorious days doing nothing more than being a happy, painty, messy student. My first live workshop event in a decade!

 

So on to this months challenge image. This month we have a word prompt along with the image.

And we're back!

Hello dear sweet friends. I thought I would be back in January but as life has it, my break extended until, well, now. February already. :) I have been in the midst of so many changes it has made my head swim and me wanting to call time out! :) I have re-built my store, rebuilt my blog, and my studio is in an uproar because my sweet DH is building me some custom workspace. The workspace right now is what is driving me crazy, so much I want/need to do and the weather is holding up painting, and painting is holding up the completion of my new area. So it's a good time to get back to our challenge! :)

Holiday Break

Ok, ok, I totally zoned out that yesterday was the first of December! I had decided that we're all so busy that a holiday break from the challenge was in order. I guess forgetting that we left November in the dust and entered December is either an indication of old age forgetfulness or maybe I can plead that  busy-ness I just mentioned. ;-)

Anyhoo...we'll be out of town the end of Dec. for a much needed friends visit, so we'll resume the Mind Wide Open Challenge a little later in the month of January. If you have wanted to join in a challenge and keep missing them, simply subscribe over in the sidebar and you'll get a notice pop in to your inbox when I post it. I may need to subscribe myself! lol

For those of you I don't see elsewhere around the 'net I hope you have the best holiday ever and that all your wishes come true! The one true thing about every Christmas we have in my family is no matter what else might go on, we eat some darn good food!
