MWO is a CHALLENGE/CONTEST BLOG with REALLY SIMPLE RULES TO PLAY
If you are new to Mind Wide Open we offer a challenge the first of each month. The challenge is that you must use the image provided in some manner, small or large, in your submitted artwork.Sometimes a word prompt will be offered in conjunction with the image in case your muse needs alittle jumpstart. The word prompt itself does not have to be used in the work but it can if you choose.

When the image is posted I give you a week (sometimes a little more, dependent on circumstances here at the shabby cottage) to get an image of your artwork to me. We encourage all mediums and all skills. It is always fascinating to see every one's take and treatment of the same image.

Artwork is due by midnight (wherever your time zone) on the deadline date specified when the image is posted. Please send the image in jpeg format and if you send more than one image, I reserve the right to post what I deem best for viewing. Also, if you have a blog (no selling sites please) send me the link with your artwork and I will post it with your entry. Once all artwork is received, the images will all be posted and the blog open for about a week for voting.

The artwork with the most votes receives a $20.00 shopping spree w/free shipping to shop at Shabby Cottage Studio. The top two runners up get a digital collage/image sheet of their choice. That's all there is to it. Simple really.

Hopefully the image provided will inspire you and get you in the workroom and focused on creating a piece of art. It's always nice to find a project that helps us focus on starting and finishing a piece of art and that is what the underlying motive of this challenge is all about. That and just plain having fun! Because it's important to not forget to do something fun for ourselves!

Holiday Break

Ok, ok, I totally zoned out that yesterday was the first of December! I had decided that we're all so busy that a holiday break from the challenge was in order. I guess forgetting that we left November in the dust and entered December is either an indication of old age forgetfulness or maybe I can plead that  busy-ness I just mentioned. ;-)

Anyhoo...we'll be out of town the end of Dec. for a much needed friends visit, so we'll resume the Mind Wide Open Challenge a little later in the month of January. If you have wanted to join in a challenge and keep missing them, simply subscribe over in the sidebar and you'll get a notice pop in to your inbox when I post it. I may need to subscribe myself! lol

For those of you I don't see elsewhere around the 'net I hope you have the best holiday ever and that all your wishes come true! The one true thing about every Christmas we have in my family is no matter what else might go on, we eat some darn good food!

See you in January!

xoxo
Gail
